Over the past year, I’ve been assembling a personal documentary centered on one woman, a matriarch who crossed oceans, built a life from almost nothing, and quietly became the foundation for an entire generation. It’s part memoir, part family archive.

Progress has been sporadic, split between two competing realities. On one side, her health is in decline. Her ability to recollect is fading faster than I anticipated, and trying to excavate what remains adds a quiet urgency to the process. On the other side, there’s the financial reality. Commercial projects take precedence because they have to. They fund the time this film requires.

So it moves... slowly.
